Another Life 2
Privacy Policy
Terms & Conditions: Another Life 2 Terms & Conditions. Pre-registration reward: Pre-Registration Reward Terms. Delete account & data: Request deletion of your Another Life 2 account and associated cloud data (web form via email — works if you have uninstalled the app).
This Privacy Policy explains how AnotherByte Inc. (“Service Provider”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with the Another Life 2 mobile application and related online services (the “Application”). Contact: support@anotherbyte.ca.
The Application is a free, ad-supported life-simulation game that may also offer optional in-app purchases (including options that remove ads). By downloading, accessing, or using the Application, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Application.
This Policy is intended to meet disclosure expectations for Google Mobile Developer Services (including AdMob and Firebase), Apple App Store privacy disclosures, and common privacy laws such as GDPR/UK GDPR and CCPA/CPRA. It describes our actual product configuration as of the date above.
1. Who is responsible
AnotherByte Inc. is the data controller (GDPR) / business (CCPA) for personal information we collect through the Application. Google, Apple, and other vendors listed below generally act as processors/service providers or independent controllers for their own products, as described in their policies.
2. Google Mobile Developer Services we implement
Per Google’s policy requirements for Google Mobile Developer Services, we disclose the Google services integrated into Another Life 2:
- Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) — rewarded and interstitial ads, with Unity ads inventory via AdMob mediation
- Google Play Services — platform services on Android (including Play Integrity used with App Check where configured)
- Firebase Authentication — guest and federated sign-in (Google / Apple)
- Firebase App Check — device/app attestation to protect backends
- Google Analytics for Firebase — event analytics and user properties
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash and error reporting
- Firebase Remote Config — remote configuration (including app-update related flags)
These services may collect data about your use of the Application using mobile advertising identifiers (Android Advertising ID / Apple Identifier for Advertisers), Firebase installation IDs, cookies or similar technologies, IP address, and device/app metadata, as described below and in Google’s documentation.
3. Categories of information we collect
3.1 Account and authentication
You may use the Application as a guest or by signing in with Google or Apple. Depending on the method, we may process:
- Firebase Authentication user ID (UID)
- Guest credentials / session tokens minted by our services
- Google account identifiers and, where provided by Google, email/display name
- Apple Sign In identifiers and, where you choose to share them, name/email
- IP address, user agent / client metadata, and related abuse-prevention signals used by Firebase Authentication
- App Check attestation material and short-lived App Check tokens (Play Integrity on Android; App Attest / DeviceCheck-style attestation on Apple platforms, as configured)
3.2 Cloud save and gameplay content you create
When cloud sync is enabled, we store encrypted or application-format save data and account metadata on our cloud servers so you can restore progress across devices. Save data may include in-game character information, progress, relationships, inventory, settings, and similar gameplay state. Local saves may also remain on your device. Cloud sync requires a network connection and authenticated session (guest or linked account).
3.3 Analytics and product usage (Firebase Analytics)
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the Application is used and to improve it. We may log events and user properties such as:
- Onboarding and auth choices (for example welcome shown, guest vs Google/Apple)
- Gameplay progression (life start/end, age milestones, tab opens, education, jail, goals, achievements, social actions)
- UI interaction identifiers (for example button/tap ids)
- User properties such as in-game age band, lives played, auth kind, and whether ads have been removed
- Association of analytics with your Firebase UID via
setUserIdwhen signed in
Analytics may also collect standard SDK data such as app instance / Firebase installation identifiers, device and OS information, approximate location derived from IP, and advertising identifiers where available and permitted. In-game “player age” properties refer to your simulated character’s age, not your real-world age.
3.4 Crash and diagnostics (Firebase Crashlytics)
Crashlytics may collect crash stack traces, Crashlytics installation UUIDs, Firebase installation IDs, timestamps, app version, device model/OS, whether the device appears jailbroken/rooted, memory/disk state, and related diagnostic data to help us fix bugs. Breadcrumb-style analytics context may be associated with crashes when Analytics is present.
3.5 Remote configuration
Firebase Remote Config uses Firebase installation IDs to deliver configuration values to devices (for example minimum supported version / update prompts). It is not used to collect the content of your save files.
3.6 Advertising data (AdMob and mediation)
The Application shows rewarded and interstitial ads through Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). Ads may also be filled via mediation partners, including Unity ads inventory through AdMob mediation. Consistent with Google’s AdMob data disclosure guidance, advertising SDKs may process:
- IP address (which may be used to estimate general location)
- Device advertising identifiers and other app/device identifiers
- Ad performance and diagnostic information
- Advertising data (ads seen) and interactions (impressions, clicks, video views)
- Product interaction signals used to improve ad performance
On iOS, we may request App Tracking Transparency permission. Our usage string explains that the identifier may be used to deliver personalized ads. If you deny tracking, ads may still appear in non-personalized or limited forms where allowed.
3.7 Purchases
Optional in-app purchases (for example life points packs or remove-ads) are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive purchase tokens / entitlement validation needed to unlock content. We do not receive your full payment card number. Purchase state may be reflected in analytics user properties (for example ads removed).
3.8 Information we do not intentionally collect
- Precise real-time GPS location for core gameplay
- Contacts, photos, microphone, or camera content (unless a future OS permission is separately requested and disclosed)
- Government ID numbers or payment card PANs
4. How we use information
| Purpose | Examples |
|---|---|
| Provide the game and cloud sync | Authenticate sessions; store and restore saves; unlock purchases |
| Security and abuse prevention | App Check attestation; auth IP/user-agent checks; fraud controls |
| Analytics and product improvement | Firebase Analytics events/properties; feature tuning |
| Stability | Crashlytics crash reports and diagnostics |
| Configuration | Remote Config for update / feature flags |
| Advertising | Serve, measure, and (where permitted) personalize ads; frequency capping; fraud prevention |
| Support and legal | Respond to requests; enforce Terms; comply with law |
We do not facilitate merging personally identifiable information with non-personally identifiable information collected through Google advertising products for advertising purposes unless we provide robust notice and obtain any opt-in consent required by Google’s policies and applicable law.
5. Advertising, personalization, and EU/UK consent
Google may serve personalized ads, non-personalized ads, or limited ads depending on consent, region, and settings (see AdMob personalized vs non-personalized ads and ad serving modes). Personalized ads use historical activity (for example apps/sites used) to infer interests. Non-personalized ads rely on contextual signals and may still use identifiers for frequency capping and aggregated reporting.
In the European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland, Google’s EU User Consent Policy requires disclosures and consent for storage/access on device and for personalization where required. Publishers must use a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP) integrated with the IAB Europe TCF (for example Google’s User Messaging Platform) and collect both purpose and vendor consent as applicable. Where required consent is not granted, ad serving may fall back to non-personalized or limited ads.
You can control personalized advertising through:
- iOS: App Tracking Transparency prompt and Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads (or equivalent advertising settings) to reset/opt out of ads personalization
- Google account ad settings: adssettings.google.com
- In-app purchase options that remove ads, where offered
- Uninstalling the Application
Opting out of personalized ads does not necessarily mean you will see no ads.
6. Identifiers, cookies, and similar technologies
The Application is a native app and does not primarily use browser cookies. We and third parties use first-party and third-party identifiers together, including:
- First-party / app identifiers: Firebase UID, Firebase installation ID, Crashlytics installation UUID, our guest/session tokens, local save identifiers
- Third-party / device identifiers: Android Advertising ID, Apple IDFA (if authorized), SKAdNetwork / attribution signals where used by ad platforms, IP address
These identifiers may be used together to authenticate you, sync saves, measure analytics, diagnose crashes, serve and measure ads, and prevent fraud. You can limit advertising identifiers through device settings as described above.
7. How we share information
We share information with:
- Google (Play Services, AdMob, Firebase / Google Analytics) as processors or as described in Google’s policies
- Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store commerce, App Attest where used)
- Unity (as an AdMob mediation demand source), subject to Unity’s privacy policy
- Infrastructure providers that host our cloud sync API and website
- Authorities or advisors when required by law or to protect rights and safety
We do not sell personal information for money. Advertising measurement and personalized advertising may involve “sharing” or a “sale” under some U.S. state privacy laws; see Section 12.
8. Third-party privacy policies
- Google Privacy Policy
- AdMob / Google advertising
- Firebase Privacy & Security
- Google Analytics for Firebase
- Firebase Crashlytics
- Unity Privacy Policy
- Apple Privacy Policy
9. Retention
- Account & cloud saves: kept while the account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for backup, abuse prevention, and legal compliance; deleted or anonymized after a verified deletion request where feasible
- Firebase Authentication: Google retains auth data until we delete the user (Google describes removal from live/backup systems within about 180 days after deletion); auth IP logs are typically kept for a short period (weeks)
- Analytics: retained according to our Google Analytics / Firebase property settings (commonly up to 14 months unless configured otherwise) and may persist longer in aggregated form
- Crashlytics: Google generally retains crash data about 90 days
- App Check tokens: short TTL (hours to days; Google states TTL cannot exceed 7 days)
- Advertising logs: retained by ad partners under their policies for serving, measurement, and fraud prevention
Uninstalling the Application removes local data on that device but does not by itself delete your cloud account or server-side analytics history. To request account and cloud-data deletion (including if you have already uninstalled), use our dedicated page: Delete Your Account & Data (https://anotherbyte.ca/anotherlife2-delete-account), or email support@anotherbyte.ca. Signed-in players can also delete the cloud account from Settings in the app.
10. Security
We use commercially reasonable safeguards, including encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS), authenticated cloud APIs, App Check attestation for sensitive endpoints, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
11. International transfers
We and our providers (including Google and Apple) may process information in the United States and other countries. Google describes participation in frameworks such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework for relevant transfers; see Google’s privacy documentation. Where required, we rely on appropriate contractual and transfer mechanisms.
12. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access, correct, or delete personal information
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Receive a portable copy of information you provided
- Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based
- Opt out of personalized advertising / “sale” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (EEA/UK)
To exercise rights, contact support@anotherbyte.ca. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your request. You can also reduce collection by denying ATT (iOS), resetting/opting out of the advertising ID, using remove-ads purchases where available, or uninstalling the Application.
13. GDPR / UK GDPR legal bases
Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we rely on:
- Contract: providing the Application, accounts, cloud sync, and purchases you request
- Legitimate interests: security, fraud prevention, analytics, product improvement, and non-personalized ad measurement—balanced against your rights
- Consent: personalized advertising, ATT/IDFA access, and other processing where consent is required (including via a CMP in EEA/UK/CH)
- Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose information
14. California and other U.S. state privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA)
In the prior 12 months we may have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (account IDs, advertising IDs, IP); commercial information (purchase entitlements); internet/electronic activity (app usage, analytics events, ad interactions); and diagnostics (crash logs, device metadata). We collect these categories for the purposes in Section 4.
We do not sell personal information for money. We may “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising through advertising partners. You may opt out using the device/Google controls in Section 5 and by emailing support@anotherbyte.ca with the subject line “Privacy Request”. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law, subject to verification.
15. Children’s privacy
The Application is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (COPPA). Under our Terms, users must generally be at least 16, or have a parent/guardian accept the Terms where required by local digital-consent rules. We do not knowingly use the Application to collect data from children for personalized advertising. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact support@anotherbyte.ca and we will take appropriate steps, including deletion where required.
16. Links to other sites and services
Store pages, ads, or the Application may link to third-party sites or services. Their privacy practices are their own. Review their policies before providing information.
17. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy at this URL and revise the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be highlighted in the Application or store listing where appropriate. Continued use after an update becomes effective constitutes acceptance, except where applicable law requires additional notice or consent.
